Gayaji (Bihar) [India], August 19 (ANI): RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav on Tuesday slammed Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar, claiming that he failed to provide clear answers with facts during his press conference.
Tejashwi alleged that CEC Kumar spoke at the behest of the Prime Minister’s Office.
“He has not yet given any clear answer with facts… Tell us why people who were alive were declared dead. There are thousands of such examples that we can present. He has just read what he got from the PMO. He is saying only what he was told. If he has taken membership in the BJP, then he should tell. What is there to be ashamed of in this?” Tejashwi told ANI.
His remarks came after CEC Gyanesh Kumar on Sunday refuted the recent “vote theft” claims made by Congress MP Rahul Gandhi and asked him to submit an affidavit within seven days.
Backing the ongoing ‘Voter Adhikar Yatra’ in Bihar, Tejashwi Yadav said that people are realising how the BJP allegedly influenced the Election Commission and stole votes.
“The Yatra is getting immense love and support from the people, and people are now understanding how the BJP people together first of all stole the Election Commission. Now that votes are being stolen, the public is aware,” the RJD leader said.
He also asserted that Bihar would not let democracy collapse.
“Democracy will not be allowed to perish from Bihar, the land where democracy was born. It is going to be a historic yatra,” he added.
The ‘Voter Adhikar Yatra’ began on Sunday from Sasaram. The 16-day yatra has been organised to protest against the Election Commission’s Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list in Bihar and alleged ‘vote chori’. It will cover more than 1,300 km across over 20 districts and conclude in Patna on September 1.
On Monday, the second day of the yatra ended with a rally in Gayaji, while day three will begin in Navada and proceed to Bar Bigha via Nalanda. (ANI)
