Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India], September 12 (ANI): The death toll in the tragic Kakori accident has risen to five after a roadways bus veered off a bridge and plunged into a ditch in Kakori, Lucknow, on Thursday. Several others sustained injuries and have been rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Those injured in the Kakori bus accident were rescued and rushed to the hospital and the administration has ensured they get the required treatment, officials said.
According to Lucknow District Magistrate (DM) Vishak G, the accident occurred after the bus carrying passengers, who were on their way to Lucknow, fell into a ditch on the highway.
He informed that the emergency response team rushed the injured passengers to the KGMC Trauma Centre and CHC Kakori for treatment.
“The bus was on its way to Lucknow from Hardoi. The accident occurred after the bus fell into a ditch on the highway. As this happened, the police and emergency response team evacuated the people and rushed them to the hospital. So far, five people have lost their lives. The injured are being treated in the KGMC Trauma Centre and the CHC Kakori. Teams have been deployed to get the injured better treatment,” DM Vishal G told ANI.
According to the officials, the injured have been taken to a hospital. Local Police, Malihabad Police and the fire team are actively engaged in rescue operations at the accident site.
Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has taken cognisance of the accident and has directed officials to reach the spot and speed up the rescue and relief operation.
The Chief Minister has also directed the proper treatment of the injured. (ANI)
